Everything You Wanted to Know about Recruiting in 2009, but Were Afraid to Ask!

Yes, I know the title is a bit audacious, but we at The Alder Group absolutely are not afraid to ask for help.  I'll be the first to admit that I can't quite handle this topic alone.  That's why this week's article is designed to entice you to participate in our annual 2009 Recruiting Outlook and Challenges Survey.  You can take this year's survey by visiting http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB228MEAHSVHN.  It's live and ready to go right now.

Why Participate?

Each year since 2005 we've conducted an annual survey designed to gauge the health of both the corporate and third-party recruiting industry.  Last year's survey revealed some important trends including the pending talent shortage, the difficulty of finding skilled labor in specific job categories, and the pending retirement of millions of baby boomers.  (For articles reviewing the results of last year's survey, click here and here.)

What a difference a year makes.  Today, "it's the economy, stupid!"  Boomers are rethinking their retirement plans as their 401K accounts lost 48% of their value over the last six months.  We still have a shortage of labor in key areas, but way too many former mortgage brokers and financial experts.  The landscape has changed considerably.  With the whole economy teetering on the edge of who knows what, many companies struggle to retain and hire the right talent.  Other industries appear relatively untouched and remain "cautiously optimistic."  If you would like to receive a copy of last year's whitepaper revealing some of our predictions and findings, simply drop us an email at info@adlerconcepts.com.  We'll be glad to direct you to the site to download the PDF of the whitepaper.

This year's survey should only take about 15 minutes to complete (approximately 27 questions).  Here's why you should consider investing the time.  Last year 725 individuals completed the whole survey, but 3500 actually started but didn't finish it.  Those that did finish were rewarded in two ways.  We produced an executive summary of the data that we freely shared will every individual who completed the whole survey.  We also scheduled an exclusive webinar online with Lou and the whole Adler team to share results and, of course, our predictions for the recruiting industry for the coming year.  All this simply for your honest answers to a few short questions.  We want the results to accurately reflect what's going on in the recruiting industry, so take your time and be thoughtful about your answers – it will make the data all the more valuable.  Take the survey by visiting http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB228MEAHSVHN.

Private Benchmarking

This year we're offering something different.  Some organizations will want to benchmark their internal processes against the overall survey results.  For a modest fee, we'll conduct a private survey of your own recruiting department and then do a comparison against the results from the broad public survey.  We'll then prepare a short custom report for your team and present those findings to your leadership/recruiting team in either an in-person half-day session or online in a webinar format.  If you'd like to learn more, just email me directly at bryan@adlerconcepts.com.  Please include all of your contact information so we can schedule a time to talk about the process.

We hope you choose to participate.  In the meantime, we at The Adler Group want to wish you and yours a very merry Holiday Season.

Merry Recruiting,
Bryan Johanson
